Phyllis Hansen

I love creating fun, whimsical artworks with pressed botanicals. I began by doing figural works

I’ve christened “Blossom Dearies.” I like to think of them as an extension of my career as a

creative director in the fashion world where the delicate pressings remind me of beautiful silks,

velvets and even laces, and with patterns pretty enough to wear. From there I branched out into

other genres, and am proud to have had works in group and solo shows here in California and

participate in several international ones. I also lead workshops and give presentations to groups

and organizations where I delve into the “roots” of this art form, relaying the fascinating stories

of how it has developed throughout time and across cultures and manifests in so many differing

and extraordinarily beautiful ways on our planet.
